Successful people often find that their career divides itself into three phases.
And I am well into phase III.
During phase one – the learning phase – I was fortunate to have several amazing mentors, each with very different backgrounds and perspectives.
The result was a unique blend of knowledge, training, skill, and insight – that played a huge role in creating a differentiation from my competitors and assured my long term success.
One of my mentors literally propelled me into phase II “the doing phase” – helped me launch my career really – by positioning me using his personal credibility among legislators, business owners, and farmers across the country.
Over a quarter of a century after my mentors put me in business, I entered phase III the teaching or sharing phase. So now I am sharing my experiences and observations in articles available in various newsletters and on several dozen web sites.
The vast majority of people whose success depends on their ability to market, sell, and deliver their services – do not realize their financial potential.
As you know, most fail altogether. They are forced to give up on their dream of being an independent professional. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Throughout my career I saw hundreds of people who were smarter, with better skills, more training, and with more potential than me, fall by the way side.
Why? Because they – consciously or unconsciously, made the decision that the pain of failure was more bearable than the effort required to succeed.
Sounds crazy, but it’s true.
It occurred to me a couple of years ago that I could provide interested individuals access to the lessons I have learned.
In addition, my observations based on three decades working with business owners up and down Main Street, and my perspectives from those experiences through articles – delivered to them in whatever way suits them the best.
All the best!
